Regulatory Risk Management for Advisors

  • Description
  • Time
  • CE Credits
The regulatory environment is ever changing in our industry and advisors need to look beyond licensing regulatory requirements to ensure they are fully compliant with the law. This seminar focuses on the requirements and legal obligations advisors must adhere to under PIPEDA, CRM-2, and Anti-Spam Legislation. All of these legal requirements for operating a business in Canada directly affect and impact how advisors practice and communicate with current and potential clients. Advisors who are offside of these requirements can often face stiff penalties. Legal requirements, how to comply with them and use them to your advantage are all covered in this seminar.

Cyber & Privacy Liability **NEW FOR 2016**

  • Description
  • Time
  • CE Credits
Are you familiar with PIPEDA., CASL., and CRM-2.? As a practicing advisor if you are not familiar with them, you are at significant risk of running afoul of federal and provincial legislation that governs how a business may communicate with prior, current, and prospective clients. Advisors collect huge amounts of personal information about their clients and are directly responsible for the protection of that information. This seminar focuses on key regulatory and legislative requirements relating to the collection and storage of personal information, what the rules and laws are regarding how you communicate with the public, the penalties and impact on a business when these rules are breached, and what advisors can do to protect themselves and their client information.

Have you read your Errors & Omissions insurance policy? Most advisors haven’t, they rely on basic information provided in flyers or on websites without really diving into the details of the one document that is designed to protect their practice and their career. This seminar looks at specific portions of the real APA E&O policy documents to walk through definitions of professional services and key exclusions so that advisors will understand just how their policy works to protect them and will potentially identify areas where they may be offside of policy requirements or conditions.
